When You Come Around
©2007 Richard March and Tyler Ragle

She left her keys swinging in the walk-up door
Figured she wouldn’t need ‘em any more
Crossed the bridge and found herself another free ride
Staring at the tail lights

Frayed at the edges
Killing time along the crooked seams
Hazy mornings, messy barroom scenes
Swimming chaos of her mind

Her rusty heart is heavy, frozen closed from all the pain
A’ letting one too many lovers leave it lying in the rain
The place you imagined ain’t the place you found
Another voice is calling you to make your way
Out to the proving ground
When you come around

Stars were dancing
Circles out the windshield as the moonlight froze
‘Tween what she hoped for and the things she chose
Like the ripplin’ on a pond
Eyes close and those lights are gone

She slipped her shoes off, singing softly with the radio
“Nothing you can see that isn’t shown.”
Flashing vacant, keeping time

Her lonely heart is heavy, holdin’ onto precious stones
She tells herself they keep her safe, besides its all she’s ever known
Now the place you imagined ain’t the place you found
First step is the hardest if you take that leap into the outward bound
When you come around
When you come around
When you come around
