These Dreams
©1996 Richard March

Riding on the 18 line, looking out for peace of mind
When it comes, it usually comes, on a long slow ride
Morning sun, is rising fast.
As I pray, peace will last
Through a new day, so I can say I lived these dreams

These dreams will fly beyond my mind
They will stand the test of time
Time don’t wait, he don’t start late
So take your turn

These dreams will see the light of day
These dreams will lead me lest I stray
Though some nights, I lie awake
And curse these dreams

I done things I thought were bad, things that made me sad
Times, I had to laugh, ‘cause I don’t cry
But the hardest I recall, s’when I feel, nothing at all
‘cept the hours, through my fingers, slippin’ by

Well I’m older than I’ve been.
I guess my greatest sin Is trying to tell the stars, how to shine
So I’m listening to the wind, learning how to bend
Soon my sails’ll stretch, and open wide
