Starin'
Eyes

Starin’ eyes from a photograph, smilin’ face that doesn’t laugh
Wouldn’t say a troubled past at all
Used to play in summer parks, now the days are gettin’ dark
Breathe deep to find a spark one more time
Stand tall, my son, and fall in line, too easy givin’ up your mind
Sit back and pass your precious time away
Got the love of your family, to help you hold on to your sanity
Don’t you turn away
Rowdy kids, a sunny day.
Crowded bus along the way
Sit back and watch ‘em, playin’ round
Kinda rough and kinda loud, could you blame ‘em anyhow
No one to show ‘em how... on their own
Young warriors screamin’ for a chance
Who’ll teach them all a holy dance
When many only look askance... afraid
Penny saved, a future lost. To educate at any cost
We must keep the faith
And beauty fleeing from the sun and fearing she’d be found worthy of its flame
He sped with hope, she fled in fear & by a river clear, she cried her father’s name
So he left her there, casting shadow’s lonely shade
So we dream and plan the perfect scene
To only fill with fear when finally come the stage
Will you be there love... when the curtain’s raised. |
