People You Meet

And so he walks away.
The last decision, made.
Says he wouldn't change a thing.
Seems to help hide the sting;
But your head can't change your heart.
You wake up, torn apart.
There are people that you meet
Sweep you right up off your feet.
Introduce you to your soul.
There are places you will go;
Lift you up and drop you low
Warm your heart, and leave you cold.
Hey Buddy, tell me this
Who's the first fool to find bliss?
A summer's love, a newborn's eyes
Fleeting moments flashing by
In between, we live our lives.
Full of fear, or faithful flight
There are people that you meet
Sweep you right up off your feet.
Introduce you to your soul.
There are places you will go;
Lift you up and drop you low
Warm your heart, and leave you cold.
I looked east and I looked west
Found my faults and I full confessed
I've met those who've found release
They walk the world in strength and peace
Most the time, I try my best
There are days I wake up blessed.
And there are people that you meet
Sweep you right up off your feet.
Introduce you to your soul.
There are places you will go;
Lift you up and drop you low
Warm your heart, and leave you cold
Teach you something you don't know
'Til you finally let it go.
